Artist Marggie Haza demonstrating a sketch with charcoal.

I work primarily in oil, acrylic, and charcoal to create expressive portraits & figures that capture the messiness of human emotion, that expose the universality of heartbreak, the strength in vulnerability, the journey of self-discovery.

My style changes with my emotions. Sometimes monochromatic, sometimes tight strokes, sometimes loose marks—but its always intentional to reach a soulful conclusion.

My paintings are often personal: each piece represents an experience, a lesson, an epiphany, or a conversation had with the self.

The scent of femininity lingers on every piece, as I use my painting sessions of expressing my own curiosities as a sexual being, not afraid of representing fears of loneliness, abandonment, and shame; as well as portraying the joys and pleasures of intimacy and human connection represented as a single naked woman covering her breasts on a canvas.

My work has a humid breath of the tropics and is seasoned with the spices and symbolism of my cultural identity: caribeña, Latinx, of a proud Lebanese & Sephardic diaspora.

Welcome, I hope my art resonates with you!
